Tiger Tail Sun News Reporter

I’m writing about the nostalgic part of my life. I love remembering the good old days of Wilkinsburg. Still do and always will – the best part of my life.
I am with today two of my best friends since the 8th grade. I say 8th grade because they both came to Horner Middle School from St. James Catholic School. Barb Fisher and Charlotte Klemm I was a year older (hate to admit that) We became the best friends and still are.

We did it all - Kennywood, walking Penn Ave, hanging out at Bells Drug Store. Barb and I were inseparable – Char had a hard time getting out of the house at times. We learned to smoke together, hayrides, Holiday House, New Years Eve, boy friends – horseback riding. Barb and I worked at a horse Farm in Latrobe when school was out, we stayed most of the summer.

I was lucky enough to have a car at 16 – So I can’t even tell you all the things we did. I can say we were at Crooked Creek every Sunday. Barb, Char and I talked about those day’s all the time, we reminiscence about the safe, good days of Wilkinsburg. O – I could go into my great uncle Drove the fire truck with horses. He was the chief or about my grandfather being the head of the Penn Joint Water Authority with pictures I will bring some year to another reunion.

Today I just want to remember my two best friends Barb and Charlotte. I know this is quite lengthy and won’t make it in your news letter I just had to say why I loved Wilkinsburg.
Thank you, Geri Kerr Prehoda ‘62
